Edo, Ergo Sum

At the table with Francesco Tonelli. The colours and aromas of a journey through food
17 May 2022 - 13 June 2022
Location: Guangzhou Library, Guangzhou
Curators: Carlos Solito

On the occasion of the 2022 Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism and the seventh edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the exhibition “Edo, Ergo Sum” presents a visual feast of more than 90 works by Francesco Tonelli.

World-renowned Italian culinary photographer, food stylist and chef Francesco Tonelli has a photographic style rooted in his passion for the art of cooking and his ongoing in-depth knowledge of food. His years of experience allow him to capture not only the essence of food, but also its elegance and charm. Tonelli uses photography to amplify the sense of taste, with skilful plays of light and shadow, inspired by ancient pictorial techniques.

In collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou, the exhibition is divided into seven sections starting with pasta, a symbol of the culinary bond between the two countries, and concluding with Chinese dishes, creating an encounter between two culinary civilizations that transmits the values of the gastronomic traditions shared by both peoples as a source of friendship and inspiration.

Visitors cross a gastronomic banquet to discover a means of building a bridge of friendship between Italy and China.
